Hi, I'm Ben

Benjamin Carlson

Lead Development Engineer at Cascodium LLC

Professionally, I am an electrical engineer in the Boston area designing custom electronics and embedded systems. I work at Cascodium and have been a part of the team there for 8 years. We work with clients in just about every industry and I enjoy the diversity of problems and challenges that this brings. Outside of work I spend a good chunk of my time outdoors and take lots of pictures of it. For anyone interested, I’ve started putting together albums to share some of my better photos.

In this position most of my work is self directed and I’ll sometimes play the role of a Project Lead when working with our staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Propose system level architectures for complex electronic and firmware designs.
  • Develop and debug custom electronics systems and firmware to meet client needs.
  • Interface with client organizations, providing guidance throughout development and knowledge transfer upon project completion.
  • Lead internal engineering teams to design both proof of concept and production ready systems.

June 2015 - Dec 2019, Andover, MA

Cascodium designs custom electronic hardware, firmware, and software for clients across a wide spectrum of industries and sizes. Responsibilities:
  • Design embedded firmware targeting bare metal, RTOS, and embedded linux targets.
  • Capture schematics and layout PCBs (primarily in Altium) for custom electronics.
  • Architect complex FPGA systems including high speed, parallel sampling and closed loop controls.
  • Support clients after electronics and firmware delivery in full system integration.
